Thompson continues to expand its operation with the purchase of a fully automatic cardboard and plastic film baler. This is now fully enclosed with new buildings adjoining our indoor waste transfer station and offers more recycling and less landfill costs.
NatWest's Dave Rogers swapped his computer and pen for a skip truck and 360û machine and spent a day in the waste transfer station to raise money for the Prince's Trust.
Teams of local business managers from NatWest and RBS in North Lincolnshire set themselves a target of raising thousands of pounds for the Prince's Trust by inviting their customers to pay them to work at their business for the day, with payments donated directly to the charity. Mr Rogers was auctioned off for £200.00 to Thompson Waste Management Ltd which is based at Winterton Road, Scunthorpe. Nessa Thompson from Thompson Waste Management, said: "It was great to have Dave with us for the day and to let him see how our business operates from the inside out."
"He has been a great support to the company and a great business manager, but that didn't stop us from making sure he worked really hard, whilst having some fun."
"Most importantly we know the money we donated went to a very important charity."
NatWest relationship director Mr Rogers said: "I really enjoyed my day at Thompson's as it gave me a whole new insight into their business which I know can only benefit the way we work together in the future."
He added: "It was definitely a special day today, and I want to thank Thompson's for helping me to help the Prince's Trust.
With the £200.00 Thompson's have kindly deonated my colleagues and I have now raised well over £2,000.00 for the charity."
Nessa Thompson explains:
We have needed to concrete our top yard for quite a while now, so we took the decision to do this just before Christmas 2009. The top yard is about an acre in size and not only are we concreting it we are putting a new drainage, interceptor tanks, vehicle wash and sprinkler system. We decided to do this to improve the site for our customers and although we were delayed by the snow we are now on track to have it all completed by the end of March 2010.
